Editorial manifesto
Buildings, people and evidence before prestige.
Understand the residence
Explain who commissioned, occupied or transformed a building, when they did so, and what survives. A palace name alone does not establish royal or aristocratic use.
Make uncertainty useful
Distinguish an established fact from an attribution, a disputed account and an unanswered question. An incomplete record is preferable to an invented answer.
Keep editorial decisions independent
Commercial relationships must not determine inclusion, historical conclusions or access labels. Any paid placement or commercial relationship relevant to a recommendation must be disclosed. A link to an operator is not, by itself, a partnership.
Help readers act on the evidence
Separate access to interiors, gardens, grounds, events and hotel accommodation. Explain restrictions and direct readers to the responsible operator before they plan a visit.
Preserve continuity
Keep identifiers and cross-references stable. Correct substantive errors openly and preserve the distinction between a new editorial update and a new source check.
Respect sources and rights
Credit sources for claims and publish visual material only when the permission or licence has been established. Translations should preserve meaning and uncertainty. Language coverage remains uneven and is not presented as complete.
