History of Hospitality
A separate global chronology will trace the institutions and infrastructure of hosting travellers: ancient state travel systems, inns and khans, pilgrimage hospitality, coaching inns, the grand hotel, rail and steamship travel, hotel chains, resorts, boutique hospitality and contemporary distribution.
History of Luxury Hospitality
A narrower chronology will trace the creation of luxury as a distinct hospitality system: court and diplomatic hospitality, grand hotels, Riviera and Alpine luxury, palace hotels, Ritz-era service, luxury gastronomy, international luxury chains, Asian luxury, ultra-luxury resorts, private islands, branded residences and modern experiential luxury.
Source Standard
Both histories will use dated milestones, signed source links, named institutions and properties, and their own People Registry. Royal Palaces provides one bridge: authentic royal palaces converted to hotels, royal guest palaces and lodges, and “Palace” hotels without royal provenance.
