Before the Toussouns

The Zamalek property began as Villa Lyons and had earlier non-royal occupants. Its royal-family provenance therefore begins with acquisition, not construction.

Princess Bahiga Hassan

Specialist architectural-historical research based on title and family material identifies Princess Bahiga Hassan as the property owner. The residence served the Toussoun household during its stays in Cairo.

Classification

Royal Palaces treats the building as a genuine dynastic residence but not as a purpose-built royal or sovereign palace. That distinction prevents later use of the name “Palais Toussoun” from rewriting its origin.
