Princess Tawhida Palace

قصر الأميرة توحيدة · قصر الإنشاء

A palace built for Khedive Ismail’s daughter Tawhida and her husband Mansour Pasha Yegen, later transformed into a military-government building.

Qasr al-Insha

Princess Tawhida’s residence is also remembered as Qasr al-Insha and, in later heritage inventories, as Mansour Pasha Palace after her husband.

A Dynastic Residence

Egyptian historical sources state that Khedive Ismail built the palace for Princess Tawhida. It therefore belongs directly in the royal-family registry rather than in the Noble & Elite control list.

From Palace to Military Administration

The building later served the War Ministry and subsequently the Ministry of Military Production. The 2024 Ministries Square inventory records the former government building under its original designation, Mansour Pasha Palace.

Why It Matters

Tawhida Palace shows how naming can obscure provenance. A building remembered as a ministry or by the husband’s name can still originate as a palace commissioned for a princess of the ruling house.
