Traditional imperial lineage to the present

Imperial House of Japan

Japan's ruling imperial line is presented by the Imperial Household Agency as a continuous genealogy; current Emperor Naruhito is the 126th emperor in that official sequence.

1331–1392

Northern Court (Nanboku-chō supplementary sequence)

The Imperial Household Agency genealogy separately marks five Northern Court emperors during the period of divided courts. They are included here as a supplementary court sequence because the present Kyoto Imperial Palace site begins with Emperor Kōgon's accession there in 1331.

Modern imperial princely branch
