Takako (Maeda family)

Wife of the 12th Maeda lord / mother of Nariyasu

Villa built for her: 1863

Who they were

Takako came from the Takatsukasa family and married Narinaga, the twelfth Maeda lord. Her son Nariyasu had Seisonkaku built for her in 1863. She represents the women of the daimyo household whose domestic life, clothing and possessions are central to the residence’s collections. Her role is distinct from that of the son who commissioned the building.
