Private Residence → Hotel

Al-Safa began as a private residence associated with Count Stephen Zizinia and later entered hospitality use as the Gloria Hotel.

Hotel → Royal Palace

In 1927 Prince Muhammad Ali Tawfiq acquired and transformed the property into a royal residence. Its provenance therefore changes at a precise point in time.

Royal Palace → Presidential Palace

After the monarchy the building entered state use. Its complete functional sequence — private residence, hotel, royal palace, presidential palace — is one of the clearest demonstrations of the registry's time-based provenance model.

Why It Matters

Al-Safa reverses the familiar palace-hotel story. Instead of a palace becoming a hotel, a hotel became a genuine royal palace.
