RPR-TUR-028 · ELITE PALACE → DYNASTIC RESIDENCE
Baltalimanı Palace
A Grand Vizier's palace that later entered the residential world of the Ottoman dynasty.
Provenance
Baltalimanı was originally built by Grand Vizier Mustafa Reşit Pasha. It was allocated to his son Galip Pasha, husband of Sultan Abdülmecid's daughter Fatma Sultan. After Galip Pasha's death the Treasury acquired the palace, and in 1887 Abdülhamid II allocated it to his sister Mediha Sultan.
Royal Palaces therefore records the building as a genuine later dynastic residence while preserving its earlier elite-pasha origin.
Today
The historic palace survives within the Metin Sabancı Baltalimanı Bone Diseases Hospital complex.
