RPR-TUR-019 · IMPERIAL PRINCESS PALACE
Beyhan Sultan Palace
A palace associated with one of Selim III's sisters and the Ottoman tradition of dynastic women's residences.
The Story
Beyhan Sultan belonged to the late eighteenth-century world of imperial princess palaces in Istanbul. Academic sources describe palaces of sultans' daughters and sisters along the Golden Horn and Bosphorus, including the residences of Beyhan and Hatice Sultan. These were genuine dynastic palaces, although they were not principal sovereign residences.
