RPR-TUR-053 · FIRST OTTOMAN CAPITAL PALACE
Bursa Bey Palace
The first known Ottoman sovereign palace, built inside the Bursa citadel after the conquest of 1326.
Orhan Gazi made Bursa the centre of the Ottoman polity and created the Bey Sarayı in the fortified upper city. The building is lost, but its location survives in the memory of today's Tophane district.
This palace establishes the beginning of the Ottoman palace sequence before Edirne and Constantinople.
