RPR-TUR-030 · FOREIGN DYNASTIC RESIDENCE
Hıdiv Pavilion
A 1907 Bosphorus residence of Abbas II Hilmi, last Khedive of Egypt.
The Story
Hıdiv Kasrı belongs geographically to Istanbul but dynastically to Egypt's Muhammad Ali house. Abbas II Hilmi commissioned the Art Nouveau pavilion in 1907 from Italian architect Delfo Seminati. It therefore belongs in Turkey's geographical registry while retaining an Egyptian dynastic identity.
Hospitality After Royal Use
The family continued to use the estate until 1937. The municipality later acquired it; following restoration, the pavilion entered restaurant, event and hospitality use.
