RPR-TUR-031 · FOREIGN DYNASTIC FAMILY RESIDENCE

Sait Halim Pasha Mansion

A Bosphorus yalı of the Muhammad Ali dynasty branch that became one of the political interiors of the late Ottoman Empire.

The Dynastic Connection

The property was acquired in 1876 by Prince Abdülhalim Pasha, son of Muhammad Ali Pasha of Egypt. After his death it passed to his children; Said Halim Pasha consolidated ownership by purchasing his siblings' shares.

Ottoman Political History

Said Halim became Ottoman Grand Vizier. In 1914 the Ottoman-German alliance agreement was signed in his study at the mansion, giving the residence significance far beyond private dynastic life.

Hospitality

The mansion later passed through tourism, restoration and state guest-house phases and today operates as a major event and hospitality venue.
