RPR-TUR-018 · DYNASTIC WOMEN
Valide Sultan Pavilion
A royal women's residence whose core is associated with Bezmiâlem Valide Sultan.
The Story
In 1842 Sultan Abdülmecid created Kasr-ı Dilküşâ for his mother Bezmiâlem Valide Sultan. The building is regarded as the core of the later Valide Sultan Pavilion within Yıldız. Its history demonstrates that the palace system must include separate residences for the queen mother and other women of the dynasty.
