RPR-TUR-012 · IMPERIAL STATE GUEST HOUSE
Yıldız Şale Pavilion
The great state-guest pavilion within Yıldız Palace.
The Story
Şale developed in three major phases. Its early core belongs to the late nineteenth century; major additions in 1889 and 1898 were connected with the visits of German Emperor Wilhelm II. The later sections were designed as exceptionally elaborate state-guest accommodation inside Abdülhamid II's imperial palace system.
Hospitality Link
Şale is a key bridge between royal-palace history and the future History of Luxury Hospitality: it represents purpose-built sovereign guest accommodation at the highest diplomatic level.
