Beverley House, Toronto
Canada → Ontario → Toronto → Richmond Street between John and Simcoe streets
Beverley House belonged to the family of Chief Justice Sir John Beverley Robinson and temporarily accommodated Lord Sydenham in 1839–1840, according to the lieutenant governor’s official history. Its domestic life is unusually well documented: the Art Gallery of Ontario holds Charles Walker Robinson’s album of photographs, correspondence and household inventories assembled in 1912. These records trace possessions and their dispersal rather than a preserved museum interior. The official overview dates demolition to 1912; the gallery’s archival finding aid gives 1913. Both dates are retained as an unresolved discrepancy. This Toronto residence is not the similarly named Robinson house in New York.
Visiting
The house has been demolished; there is no residence interior to visit. The gallery archive is a research resource, not evidence that the household album is on public exhibition. Consult the holding institution separately for research access.
