Government House, Regina

Canada → Saskatchewan → Regina

Built in 1891, Government House served as a lieutenant governor’s residence and office until 1945. Its subsequent uses included veterans’ convalescence and adult education. Restoration began in 1978 and the museum opened in 1980. The interpreted interiors evoke Amédée Forget’s tenure, 1898–1910, rather than preserving every room unchanged from 1891. The lieutenant governor’s office returned to the north wing in 1984. Museum interpretation and continuing official use therefore coexist within the building.
