Governor’s House Halifax — 1749 residence
Canada → Nova Scotia → Halifax
Halifax’s first governor’s house was a small, single-storey building assembled from a frame and materials brought from Boston. The governor moved in during early October 1749. It preceded the larger mansion erected in 1755. The provincial archive’s illustrated page shows the later house: that image must not be used as a portrait of the 1749 building. The exact date of this first house’s removal is not established by the cited account.
