Governor’s House Halifax — 1755 residence
Canada → Nova Scotia → Halifax → Hollis Street
Built in 1755 during Charles Lawrence’s governorship, this mansion succeeded Halifax’s small prefabricated governor’s house of 1749. John Wentworth later considered it unsuitable and pressed for a replacement in the southern suburbs. The Nova Scotia Archives dates demolition to 1800. The surviving Government House is a different building.
