Manoir Dénéchaud — 1813 residence
Canada → Quebec → Berthier-sur-Mer
Claude Dénéchau acquired the estate in 1811 and built a new residence in 1813. An older manor from 1720 was attached and used as a kitchen; it was a separate earlier building, not the construction date of Dénéchau’s new house. Later uses included an inn serving sailors. After prolonged decay, fire destroyed the manor in 1991. The protected site retains a chimney and scattered masonry, but the published summary does not assign every surviving fragment to a particular building phase.
Visiting
The municipality identifies the manor site and wharf as part of its public riverfront park. The visit is to a landscape and remains, not furnished interiors. Follow on-site restrictions and do not treat exposed archaeological fabric as an area to enter or climb.
