Manoir Joly-De Lotbinière
Canada → Quebec → Sainte-Croix
Pierre-Gustave Joly built Maple House at Pointe Platon in 1851. The summer residence belongs to the history of the Joly de Lotbinière seigneurial family, including Henri-Gustave, later a premier of Quebec and lieutenant-governor of British Columbia. The house was enlarged around 1880. Its galleries and river setting were integral to a country retreat whose gardens became a major attraction. The manor now offers museum interpretation; a garden visit should not be taken to mean that every domestic room retains its original furnishings.
