Manoir Mauvide-Genest
Canada → Quebec → Saint-Jean-de-l’Île-d’Orléans
The Quebec heritage register dates the house to 1734, with substantial enlargement before 1755. It identifies the estate with Jean Mauvide. An archived deed dated 21 November 1752 records his purchase of lands and seigneurial rights in the parishes of Saint-Pierre and Saint-Laurent. The manor therefore connects domestic architecture with documented territorial administration. Its present museum interiors include restoration and reconstruction; they should not be described as an untouched eighteenth-century household.
Visiting
The French visitor page advertises daily 10:00–17:00 hours, self-guided and guided visits. The homepage labels the hours seasonal, while the English page still says “back in June 2026”. No clear season-end date was established: confirm your date with the operator, particularly outside summer, rather than assuming year-round opening.
