Manoir Montmorency — historic residence
Canada → Quebec → Québec City
The first manor at Montmorency Falls was built in 1781 for Governor Haldimand. Prince Edward, later Duke of Kent, stayed here during the 1791–1794 period. The residence subsequently became part of a commercial estate and later a hotel. Fire in 1993 ended the historic building’s life; the present manor is a reconstruction. This entry concerns the earlier residence, while the modern visitor facilities are described as its successor on the site, not as surviving eighteenth-century rooms.
Visiting
Sépaq operates the falls park and advertises restaurant facilities in the reconstructed manor. The historical residence itself cannot be visited intact. Check the park’s current admission and restaurant schedule separately; dining or reception facilities are not proof of overnight hotel accommodation.
